Attention Turkish Citizens Traveling to Greece
1 . Citizens of the Republic of Türkiye traveling to Greece (excluding diplomatic, special and service passport holders) are subject to visas under the Schengen visa regime. The Greek visa regime based on the Schengen Agreement also requires citizens transiting through Greece to obtain a visa. Visas are not issued at border gates, and the minimum validity period required for passports is 3 months from the expiry date of the visa.
* GREEN PASSPORTS WHOSE VALIDITY HAS BEEN EXTENDED IN THE OLD BOOKLET ARE NOT VALID; THE BOOKLET MUST ABSOLUTELY BE RENEWED.
For travel to the Greek islands close to our shores and connected by direct sea routes, 15-day visas have been issued at ports since 2012 under the simplified visa procedure. This procedure was last implemented in 2019 between May 25 and September 30, covering the islands of Lesvos, Chios, Samos, Rhodes, Kos, Kastellorizo and Simi. However, it is not currently in effect for 2024.
2 . Greek authorities do not permit entry into the country if passports bear an entry/exit stamp from the TRNC. On the other hand, in accordance with the agreement reached with the authorities of the aforementioned country, the passports of our citizens born in Greece must state the Turkish and English names of their place of birth, together with the designation “GR” (for example, “Gümülcine / Komotini GR”).
3 . The amount of foreign currency that may be freely brought into Greece and taken out upon departure is 10,000 euros or the equivalent in foreign currency. Documents such as checks, promissory notes, bonds, bills and letters of guarantee, which are negotiable valuable instruments, are also considered cash. Amounts exceeding 10,000 euros must be declared to the customs authorities; if more cash than this amount is carried, a penalty of 25% of the amount is imposed.
Schengen or Visa on Arrival (Visa-Free for Green Passport Holders)
A visa is required for citizens of the Republic of Türkiye. To apply for a visa, applicants must apply through our agency with a passport valid for at least 6 months from the end date of the trip and the documents specified in the “Documents Required for a Visa” list.
The visa must be obtained from the country of first entry on the tour or from the country where the longest stay will take place.
Green passport holders are not subject to a visa requirement; a passport valid for at least 6 months from the end date of the trip is sufficient.
The visa information stated in the program applies to citizens of the Republic of Türkiye. Guests holding a passport other than that of the Republic of Türkiye must obtain visa information from the relevant consulates.
Having obtained a visa does not mean that entry into the country is guaranteed; passport control officers have the authority to deny you entry into the country. Fly Express is not responsible for this situation; responsibility rests with the passenger.
To avoid problems with customs police at the border gate of the country to be visited due to torn, worn, wet and/or similarly damaged passports, the passports obtained must be renewed, and if the country applies a visa requirement to citizens of the Republic of Türkiye, the relevant visa must be in the new passport. Otherwise, responsibility rests with the passenger.
As officers at border entry and exit points may request a document showing the joint consent of the parents when guests under the age of 18 travel alone or with only one of their parents, we recommend that our guests under the age of 18 and their parents pay particular attention to this matter.
