Toledo, the capital of the Castile-La Mancha region, located 70 km southwest of Madrid, is undoubtedly one of the most important cities in Spanish history. With its image carrying traces from all civilizations that have come to Spain, it offers unforgettable memories to its visitors. The city, surrounded by the Tagus River, built on protected steep cliffs and surrounded by high walls, has always been a valuable city throughout history from Romans to Visigoths, from Andalusia to the Spanish Kingdom. At the same time, Toledo, which was the center of Judaism in the Iberian Peninsula until the late 15th century, houses many important structures ranging from Europe's oldest synagogue still standing to dozens of churches converted from mosques and the magnificent cathedral where Spain was religiously governed, and is almost a mosaic where three monotheistic religions and their peoples intermingled. Until the Empire moved its capital to Madrid in 1561, Toledo was the political, cultural, commercial and military center; it also served as an inspiration source for Cervantes' immortal work Don Quixote of La Mancha, and a large part of the story takes place in this city and its surroundings, and for all these reasons, Toledo has found its place on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Among the places we will see during our tour; the famous viewpoint where you can photograph the magnificent view of the city dating back to the 16th century like a painting, San Martin Bridge, San Juan Monastery, Jewish Quarter, Santo Tome Church, Santa Maria Cathedral Square, the shopping street where you can find everything unique to the city, and Zocodover Square, the center of the city, will be included. During the free time after the tour, you can taste Mazapan, almond paste unique to Toledo, and try Manchego, the matured sheep cheese recognized worldwide by Spain and named after this region. As a souvenir, you can examine swords, knives or accessories made with traditional methods and even used in Hollywood movies because this place is where the most famous steel of the Middle Ages was produced. In addition, you can purchase telkari products, which are a legacy of the Andalusian period to the city, called Damascening (Damasquinado), decorated with beautiful motifs with gold wires in different settings.
