Need to Know

Attention to Turkish Citizens Traveling to Greece

1 . Citizens of the Republic of Türkiye traveling to Greece (excluding holders of diplomatic, special and service passports) are subject to a visa under the Schengen visa regime. The Greek visa regime, based on the Schengen Agreement, also requires our citizens transiting through Greece to obtain a visa. Visas are not issued at border gates, and the minimum validity period required for passports is 3 months from the expiry date of the visa.
* GREEN PASSPORTS WITH EXTENDED VALIDITY IN THE OLD BOOKLET ARE NOT VALID; THE BOOKLET MUST ABSOLUTELY BE RENEWED.

For travel to the Greek islands close to our shores and with direct sea connections, visas valid for 15 days have been issued at ports since 2012 under the facilitated visa procedure. This procedure was last implemented in 2019, between May 25 and September 30, covering the islands of Lesvos, Chios, Samos, Rhodes, Kos, Kastellorizo and Simi. However, it is not currently in effect for 2024.

2 . Greek authorities do not permit entry into the country if passports bear an entry/exit stamp from the TRNC. On the other hand, in accordance with the agreement reached with the authorities of the aforementioned country, the passports of our citizens born in Greece must include the Turkish and English names of their places of birth, together with the designation “GR” (for example, “Gümülcine / Komotini GR”).

3 . The amount of foreign currency that may be freely brought into Greece and taken out upon departure is 10,000 euros or the equivalent in foreign currency. Documents such as checks, promissory notes, bonds, bills and letters of guarantee, which are negotiable instruments, are also accepted as cash. Amounts exceeding 10,000 euros must be declared to the customs authorities, and if cash exceeding this amount is carried, a penalty of 25% of the amount is imposed.

Schengen or Visa at the Border (Visa-Free for Green Passport Holders)

A visa is required for citizens of the Republic of Türkiye. For a visa application, applicants must apply to our agency with a passport valid for at least 6 months from the end date of the trip and the documents specified in the “Documents Required for a Visa” list.
The visa must be obtained from the country of first entry on the tour or from the country where the longest stay will take place.
There is no visa requirement for green passport holders; a passport valid for at least 6 months from the end date of the trip is sufficient.
The visa information provided in the program applies to citizens of the Republic of Türkiye. Guests holding a passport other than that of the Republic of Türkiye must obtain visa information from the relevant consulates.
Having a visa does not mean that entry into the country is guaranteed; passport control officers have the authority to refuse your entry. Fly Express is not responsible for this situation; responsibility lies with the passenger.
To avoid problems with customs police at the border of the country to be visited due to torn, worn, wet and/or otherwise damaged passports, the passports obtained must be renewed, and if the country applies a visa requirement to citizens of the Republic of Türkiye, the relevant visa must be in the new passport. Otherwise, responsibility lies with the passenger.
As guests under the age of 18 may be asked by the police officer on duty at the country's entry and exit points to provide a document showing the joint consent of their parents when traveling alone or accompanied by only one of their mother or father, we recommend that our guests under the age of 18 and their parents pay particular attention to this matter.
